Governance

As a regulated life company, Mobius Life has a rigorous corporate governance framework overseen by the board of directors.
The Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee (“ARC”) is responsible for:
  • The oversight of the quality and integrity of accounting and reporting practices, controls and financial statements
  • Reviewing performance of the internal audit function and the independent auditors
  • Taking a forward-looking perspective on risk matters
  • The oversight, quality and performance of the Risk Management and Compliance functions

The ARC membership consists of three independent non-executive directors of Mobius Life Limited.

We commission BDO LLP to conduct an independent audit to test our compliance with the AAF 01/20 internal control framework principles. Our annual company audit is performed by E&Y. Both audits conduct detailed sample testing across all aspects of the investment platform, with particular emphasis on the investment administration function.

In line with good industry practice, we operate a three lines of defence model with appropriate monitoring of processes and controls provided by the risk and compliance functions and assurance on the effectiveness of those controls provided by internal audit.

Diversity of the governing body

Mobius Life’s governing body has a Board Diversity policy in place to ensure composition of the Board displays diversity in its broadest sense, to enable it to benefit from a range of perspectives, insights and challenges to support good decision making. Recruitment to the Board is made on merit whilst seeking to ensure diversity of thought and experience.

Pension schemes can now access private markets assets on the Mobius Life platform

01 October 2016

Partners Group Generations Fund offers diversification and uncorrelated returns.

UK pension schemes seeking access to direct private market asset classes can now invest in the Partners Group Generations Fund on the Mobius Life platform. This is believed to be the first time that private market assets have been available on a UK institutional life platform.

Private market investments include private equity, private debt, private infrastructure and private real estate. They offer diversification, reduced volatility and returns to schemes that may not be correlated to public markets.

Private markets asset classes have not previously been available on UK life platforms. The Partners Group Generations Fund offers daily liquidity and pricing, meeting the regulatory requirements of the ‘permitted link’ regulations, and the operational requirements of DC pension schemes in the UK. Partners Group launched the Generations Fund earlier this year, with the objective of providing DC pension schemes with access to private markets investment opportunities that traditional DB schemes have enjoyed for decades.

Adrian Swales, Chief Executive Officer, Mobius Life, said:
“Many of the UK’s DC and DB schemes have been crying out for access to private markets assets. They give schemes wider diversification and can have a significant part to play in helping schemes to meet their objectives.

We have listened carefully to our clients to ensure that the funds available on our platform meet their changing needs and I am very pleased that we can now give our clients access to this important asset class. We have been through a very careful due diligence process to ensure that the Partners Group Generations Fund can be seamlessly integrated into our life platform operations.”

Partners Group is a global private markets investment manager with over US$55 billion in investment programs under management across the private equity, private real estate, private infrastructure and private debt asset classes. The firm is headquartered in Switzerland and has offices in 19 locations worldwide, including London.

The firm has offered private market programs with liquidity features since 2001. In August 2015, Partners Group launched the first private equity offering with daily pricing and liquidity for the US DC market. It subsequently launched a private markets fund for the Australian DC market earlier this year, followed by the Partners Group Generations Fund for the UK DC market in June 2016.
